A new community is coming to our 58th Street oasis.
On Wednesday, Presby’s Inspired Life will break ground on Witherspoon Senior Apartments, a new Affordable Housing community in Southwest Philadelphia at 2000 South 58th Street.
Witherspoon Senior Apartments, which will be built on the site of a vacant former nursing home, will add 60 units of Affordable Housing for people 62 and better in Philadelphia, a city in critical need of such development.
Local dignitaries including Philadelphia City Councilman Kenyatta Johnson, Pennsylvania State Representative Joanna McClinton, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency Director of Development Holly Glauser and Philadelphia Housing Authority President and CEO Kelvin Jeremiah will be among those who join Presby officials and team members and current 58th Street residents for the ceremony, which is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m.
Witherspoon Senior Apartments will be the fourth community on Presby’s 58th Street Campus, joining Ann Thomas Apartments, Greenway Apartments and Mary Field Apartments. The campus currently serves 240 seniors and has another 500 on respective waiting lists.
The groundbreaking for Witherspoon Senior Apartments will mark Presby’s second Affordable Housing community groundbreaking in the last week. On Wednesday, Sept. 20, Presby broke ground on Cantrell Place in South Philadelphia during a ceremony that featured remarks from Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney and other local and state officials.
