Spring Mill residents donate Thanksgiving foods for Affordable Housing residents
November 22, 2016
An annual tradition reached its fourth consecutive year as Spring Mill residents donated food and time to help others in the Presby family have a happy Thanksgiving.
For the fourth consecutive year, residents from Spring Mill gathered to bag donated foods that will be given to residents at Presby’s Inspired Life’s Affordable Housing communities to help celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Spring Mill residents came together Monday evening to package canned and boxed Thanksgiving favorites such as corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing and more, all of which will be distributed this week in large, reusable holiday-themed bags that the Affordable Housing residents can keep.
The food was donated by residents and employees at Spring Mill.
“This is the second year I’ve done this now,” said Fran, one of the Spring Mill residents who participated on Monday. “It feels really good to give back, especially at this time of year.”
Linda Suarez, Spring Mill’s director of recreational therapy, said the goal is to help out with a healthy, balanced meal that is easy for residents to cook. But the generosity of the Spring Mill residents is imperative in reaching that goal.
“We do a lot of civic projects here that help out others within the Presby organization and the residents here love to get involved and give back,” Linda said.
Presby’s Inspired Life would like to wish you and yours a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday and encourages you to donate and help out wherever and however you can to assist those in need this holiday season.
