Spring Mill Set To Unveil New Dementia Wing Renovations
July 15, 2015
On Thursday, July 16, Spring Mill, a community of Presby’s Inspired Life, will host an open house to unveil renovations completed in the community’s memory support wing—Cedar Grove.
The $280k initiative completed by Horst Construction of Lancaster, PA over a 12 week period, included updates to the kitchen, common areas and residents’ rooms. The newly installed shadow boxes, located outside each resident’s room, contain familial objects and pictures that seek to provide residents a means to stay connected with the people and things they hold most dear—a critical component in dementia care.
The Cedar Grove wing at Spring Mill is currently home to 27 individuals struggling with dementia and its related disorders. “We strive to provide our residents with the best possible care—and that care includes the setting in which these men and women call home,” said Lori Gresko, Administrator of Spring Mill. “The renovations provide a higher level of comfort, safety and aesthetics for residents and family members alike.” Spring Mill is one of three Presby’s Inspired Life communities with a specially designated unit to support those with dementia—Rydal Park (Jenkintown) and Broomall (Delaware County) are the other two.
Residents, family members, Presby’s Inspired Life team and the local community are invited to attend the open house which begins at 2pm and concludes at 4pm. The afternoon affair will include refreshments and hors d’oeuvres and tours of the newly refurbished wing.
