Suzanne Parker utilizing her time and talents all across Rosemont
April 24, 2018
Resident Suzanne Parker is relishing in her mansion life at Rosemont.
You just never know where you’re going to find Suzanne Parker at Rosemont.
She could be behind the counter or stocking the shelves at the Beaupre Shop. Or she could be in her apartment, typing away at the latest edition of “The Voice” resident newsletter. Or she could be in the Performing Arts Center, helping put together an event or presentation for fellow residents. Or she could be working on a craft to feature at the next bazaar. The list could go on and on.
But on this early spring day, Suzanne is in one her favorite haunts at Rosemont. She’s in the mansion’s library.
Since Suzanne, originally from North Philadelphia, came to Rosemont in the fall of 2002, she has been among the most dynamic members of the Rosemont community.
Her Rosemont resume is as impressive as it is long. She has worked in the library, the shop and has been the editor of the “The Voice” for the last seven years. She has spent time on the resident council, the dining committee and the planning committee for renovations to the fourth floor residential area.
And she does it all for the simplest of reasons – because she enjoys being involved and utilizing her talents wherever she can.
“We have so many good people here and I’ve made so many good friends,” Suzanne said. “I’m a people person. I want to keep my mind working. I just have to be involved.
“I’ve been active in so many things here. I’ve just been so happy here. It’s a wonderful place.”
Suzanne is particularly fond of her work on “The Voice,” the resident paper, which comes out once a month.
“It’s in my background,” explained Suzanne, who has professional experience in graphic arts. “It’s a team effort. We have writers and others who contribute content monthly.
Suzanne is a mother of three, grandmother of three and great grandmother of two. She stays in touch with them any way she can, and that includes through social media.
Suzanne is an avid Facebook user and recently discovered Snapchat on her smartphone.
“I stay on these things,” Suzanne said. “It’s a good way to see all the pictures and keep up with everything that’s going on.”
But still, to Suzanne, life at Rosemont is about the people she interacts with every day, the friends she has made and continues to make.
“I love the history here at Rosemont. I’ve always said I wanted to live in a mansion. Suzanne said. “I think the atmosphere here is very delightful. That’s what really sold it to me. It’s just such an attractive place. … It’s a beautiful place. I really do love it.”
